Try to use a natural sweetener like Stevia – the fresh leaves or as powder (organic green leaf powder!)
Eating lots of sugar complimentary foods is not a good recommendation. Generally foods made with sugar substitutes contain refined flours and little fiber and are not excellent for diabetics.
It might be surprise you to figure out that “sugar-free” does not always suggest carbohydrate-free or calorie-free. Although some sweeteners do not include calories or carb, various do. As well as it is the carbohydrate that has the effect on blood glucose.
Stevia – Natural Sweetener
Stevia is commonly grown for its wonderful sweet leaves, which is a natural sweetener and also sugar substitute removed from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana.
A natural herb that tastes sweet on the tongue without any real sugar molecules to let your metabolic rate ‘freak-out’. Therefore, it’s very wonderful to use when you’re trying to decrease sugar intake or are on a low-carb diet.
The white powder versions of this herb out there are highly refined and therefore suspect. So despite the assumed safety and security of a product like this, to me it makes no feeling to use it if I can obtain a bag of perfectly organic green leaf powder – the whole plant with minerals.
That stated, the green leaf stevia is a plant that I have in fact grown in my own garden. I use it for adding fresh or dried leaves to tea leaves or various other organic teas prior to brewing in order to include a natural sweet taste without the use of sugar.
